The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves will look to make it two wins in as many football games in 2024 when they host New London tonight. A strong first half on defense allowed WMU to build a 20-0 lead by halftime and go on to beat Central City 40-28 in the season opener last week.

Coming off throwing for 26 touchdowns and just four interceptions in his first season as a starter, quarterback Jake Edwards started his senior season by passing for 177 yards and three TDs against Central City.

Senior Lane Genkinger caught one of those scoring tosses and also ran for three touchdowns last week, while junior Max Edwards paced the Wolves’ defense with seven total tackles and two tackles for loss.

Winfield-Mount Union will be taking on a New London team that started this year by losing 40-21 to Easton Valley and went just 1-7 in 2023. WMU ended a seven-game losing streak to the Tigers last year with a 78-0 victory. Kickoff for the Wolves on their home turf this evening is set for 7 o’clock.
