The Lone Tree Lions split four volleyball matches while playing in a tournament Saturday at Midland. Lone Tree took their first match, beating Central City in the first set 21-17 and bouncing back from a 21-18 loss in the second frame by winning the tie-breaking third set 15-8.
The Lions would lose in straight sets to Monticello, 21-7 and 21-9, and were also swept by Cascade, 21-10 and 21-2, but they would take down North Cedar. After winning the first set 22-20, Lone Tree fell in the second 21-10, but they would edge out the Knights in the third set 15-13.
Cate Sexton led the Lions with 12 kills and added three blocked shots in the middle, while fellow senior Rylee Shield had seven kills, 19 digs, and two blocks.
Junior middle hitter Alyson Ford and senior outside hitter Alex Dautremont also came up with seven kills each, with Ford adding a team-high seven blocks and Dautremont collecting 16 digs.
Senior setter Hayden Yoder handed out 35 assists to go with three kills, four digs and a block as Lone Tree moves its record to 4-4. The Lions are back in action tonight at home against Highland.
