Waterworks Park will be a busy place tonight as the Fairfield Trojans host the annual Ron Hunderdosse Invitational. Five teams from the KCII listening area will join other runners in action.

The Washington Demons will attend. Washington was last in competition a week ago in Iowa City at Regina’s Bob Brown Classic where the Demon girls were fourth in the team standings and the boys were seventh led by Andrew Rees eighth individually for the boys and Iris Dahl 10th for the girls. Tyler Alderton lands at No. 27 in this week’s Class 3A individual rankings from the Iowa Track and Field Coaches Association.

The Hillcrest Academy Ravens will compete tonight in Fairfield. They have been off since their season opening home Early Bird meet September 3rd. The Raven boys and girls each finished fourth in the team standings. Top Raven on the girls side was Marie Yoder in third with Jesse Blossom leading the boys in 12th. Yoder is ranked No. 10 in this week’s 1A girls poll.

The Highland Huskies last raced at Sigourney on Tuesday. Chase Hickenbottom ran 24:19 to lead the boys and Olivia Edwards was at 32 minutes to lead the Highland girls.

The Lone Tree Lions will also run at Fairfield tonight. Their last meet was Tuesday at Sigourney where Vivian Zaruba and Brock Nebergall led the Lion girls and boys respectively, each finishing 13th.

Teams from Winfield-Mt. Union ran last at Van Buren Tuesday. The Wolves were sixth of 10 teams in the boys standings led by a fourth place race for Kohlby Newsom. Ashlyn Bender was 50th to lead the Lady Wolves. Newsom is ranked No. 10 in this week’s Class 1A boys individual poll.

Those area teams will be joined tonight by Burlington, Cardinal, Central DeWitt, the No. 9 in Class 2A Chariton boys and their girls, the No. 4 in 1A Danville boys and their No. 12 girls, Eddyville-Blakesburg, the No. 11 in Class 3A Fort Madison boys and their No. 13 girls, the No. 18 Mediapolis boys and their girls, Mount Pleasant, Burlington Notre Dame, Oskaloosa, Ottumwa, the No. 14 in 1A Van Buren boys and their girls, Wapello and the home Trojans. There are a total of 11 ranked runners in Thursday’s field. Action starts tonight at 4:30 and continues into the evening at Waterworks Park in Fairfield.
