The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves kept their undefeated start to conference volleyball play going by topping the WACO Warriors in straight sets Thursday. WMU took the first set 25-19 and wouldn’t slow down from there, winning the next two frames 25-15 and 25-18.
Junior Kellee Milks had a big night for Winfield-Mount Union, putting up a double-double with a match-high 17 kills and 10 digs. Freshman Kynlee Buffington was also strong in the middle for the Wolves with nine kills and three blocked shots.
Senior libero Pacey Schlee added 15 digs and three serving aces as WMU improves to 3-0 in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and 8-3 overall.
Meanwhile, the loss drops WACO to 0-2 in the Super Conference North and 5-9 in total. While the Warriors will next face Columbus on Tuesday, Winfield-Mount Union gears up to meet defending conference champion Wapello, the only loss they suffered in league play last season.
