The Columbus Wildcats will try to get back to business when they travel to face district football rival Pekin tonight. Columbus suffered a 49-6 loss at Lisbon last week in their Class A District 5 opener to fall to 1-2 overall.

Riley Kaalberg continues to lead the Wildcat offense with nearly 470 rushing yards and six touchdowns, and the senior is also the leading tackler for the defense. Markell Zapiensz has also been disruptive on the defensive line with five-and-a-half tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Columbus will be taking on a Pekin team that is undefeated so far this season. The 3-0 Panthers have a phenomenal offense, averaging over 61 points and 300 rushing yards per game thanks to stars like senior Will Adam, who has run for nearly 370 yards and eight TDs by himself.

But Pekin has just been good on defense, yielding a measly total of 10 points this season. Columbus has won three straight games against the Panthers. The Wildcats kick things off this evening at 7.
