Friday night was a party, all night long at the Snake Pit in Sigourney as the Sigourney-Keota Cobra football team rolled to a 60-0 Homecoming win over the Cardinal Comets. SK put the game on ice early, leading 34-0 after the first and enacting the running clock with two more touchdowns in the second quarter to lead 48-0 at half. The Cobras found the end zone one more time in each of the third and fourth quarters.

The Snakes rolled up 300 yards in total on the night, 219 on the ground. Eight different Cobras had a hand in scoring a touchdown. Isaac Bruns had 105 yards rushing on just eight carries with a pair of touchdowns. Ike Molyneux, Keegan Clarke, Braydon Wood and Carson O’Rouke each rushed for scores. Through the air, Wood and Blake Baker each tossed a touchdown, combining to go four for five for 81 yards. Brady Clark and Hunter Sellers pulled in receiving scores. Defensively, SK had 10 tackles for loss as a team and were led individually by Caden Clarahan with five stops. Sellers recovered a fumble and Clark had a 67-yard pick six. Sigourney-Keota head coach Jared Jensen joined the KCII Radio Coaches Corner Saturday to talk about the win.

Jensen said, “It’s really about the amount of bodies we can play and not drop off. Across the D-line we have eight bodies that rotate in, add in a couple more. Linebacker (has a rotation). The ability to move guys around and add a guy in, gets a lot of guys involved. A lot of these guys are playing both ways, so having them on offense, then rotating them on defense, so there’s opportunities to stay fresh. We are doing a lot of good things against the run game and the pass game. These guys are in-tune. They understand what their objective is each game.”

The victory was the 100th at Sigourney-Keota for Jensen. The Cobras have won three in a row to run their record to 3-1 overall this year, now 1-0 in district. Cardinal is winless at 0-4. SK hosts Pleasantville this Friday.
