A busy Saturday turned out to be a productive one for the Hillcrest Academy Raven and Highland Huskies volleyball teams when they traveled to Eldon for the Cardinal Invitational. The day started with three sweeps for the girls from Kalona including a win over Twin Cedars 25-6 and 25-9, rival Highland 25-15 and 25-19, and the home Comets 27-25 and 25-18. They were beaten by Van Buren in three 25-22, 19-25 and 8-15. Leaders on the day for the Ravens included Claire Withrow with 94 assists and 11 aces, Malia Yoder with 43 digs and 38 kills, Lydia Beachy with 34 digs, Niva Helmuth with 23 kills, and Kylee Statler with seven blocks. After the tournament, the Ravens stand at 13-8 on the year.

The Highland side went 2-2 on the day. Aside from the loss to Hillcrest, the Huskies got wins over Twin Cedars 25-15 and 25-13 and Cardinal 25-16, 16-25 and 15-4 before dropping a contest to Van Buren 25-20 and 25-21. Top Dogs for the day included Laney Skelton with 42 assists and 12 kills. Adeline Krotz had 19 kills and two blocks. Brena Hazelett added 17 kills and Hailey Brun 11. Lilly Barre finished with 48 digs and Adisyn Prottsman had nine aces. Following the tournament split the Huskies were 13-8 on the season.
