The Washington Demons rolled to victory over their long-time conference rivals from Mount Pleasant on their home volleyball court last night, winning in straight sets.
Washington jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first set that they would not relinquish, finishing on a 9-1 run to win the opening frame 25-12. A back-and-forth second set finally went the Demons’ way down the stretch, as they closed things out with a 10-3 run and won the set 25-19.
Washington would keep that momentum in the third and final frame, starting things by taking a 13-4 lead, and even when Mount Pleasant got close again, the Demons ripped off an 8-2 run to close the set and win 25-15.
The victory moves Washington’s record to 10-10, including a 3-1 mark in the Southeast Conference. The Demons will celebrate the rest of homecoming week and get ready for another conference collision in their next match this coming Tuesday against Keokuk.
