The Columbus Wildcats split a pair of matches in a volleyball triangular last night at Louisa-Muscatine. Columbus took care of business in their conference match and won in straight sets against Louisa-Muscatine, 25-19 and 25-21, but they were swept by English Valleys, 25-19 and 25-23.

Aracely Garza led the Wildcats with a total of 11 kills for the night and also collected nine digs on defense, while fellow juniors Audrey Hoback and Jessica Del Rio had nine kills each. Hoback added four serving aces and 11 digs, while junior Kennedy Woepking had 19 digs to go with five kills and an ace.

Junior setter Daniela Diaz dished out 37 assists along with picking up nine digs as Columbus is now 3-2 in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and 6-12 overall. The Wildcats are now gearing up for pool play in this year’s Super Conference Tournament tomorrow evening in Mediapolis.
