The Sigourney Savages needed to go the distance, but they would ultimately earn another conference volleyball win Thursday against Iowa Valley. After losing the first set at home 25-21, Sigourney took the second frame 25-18. Iowa Valley would win the third set 25-20, but the Savages won each of the final two sets by a score of 25-12 to take the match.

A monster night of 25 kills and 15 digs from outside hitter Josephine Moore led Sigourney, while fellow senior McKinley Chittick added 11 kills. Senior middle hitter Reagan Clarahan had nine kills and two blocked shots, while junior Addy Fineran also picked up three blocks in the middle.

Senior Taylor Rozenboom handed out 24 assists, while fellow setter Bailey Gretter added two kills, 18 assists, 19 digs, one block and three serving aces to help the Savages improve to 2-1 in the East division of the South Iowa Cedar League and 10-3 overall.

The Keota Eagles also went the full five frames Thursday night, but they would be on the wrong end of a battle with Belle Plaine. Keota rallied from losing the first two sets by winning the third and fourth frames 25-20 and 25-15, but they would not have enough in the tank to avoid dropping the tie-breaking fifth set 15-6

The loss drops Keota to 0-3 in the SICL East and 2-6 in total. The Eagles and Sigourney will next face each other Monday night in Keota.
