Washington County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections, Daniel Widmer, is reminding eligible electors who want to vote in the November 5th General Election in Washington County and who are not yet registered that they should register on or before the October 21 deadline for pre-registration. Iowa law allows eligible persons to register to vote and to cast a ballot on election day if they are able to provide proof of both their identity and residency at their polling place; however, with the convenience of being able to register and vote at the polls on the same day comes potential confusion and check-in backlog. Worry-free postmark deadline is Monday, October 21. Persons who are already registered to vote in Washington County do not need to re-register to participate in this election. Voter registration forms can be obtained or online registrations can be filled out through the county website at http://washingtoncounty.iowa.gov, or voters may register directly at the Washington County Auditor’s Office. Auditor’s Office hours are weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., as well as Monday, October 21, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Anyone with questions should contact the Washington County Auditor’s Office at 319-653-7717.
