This week, Mid-Prairie head coach Daren Lambert talked with KCII sports about the seniors and keys against Central Lee.

Lambert said, “It’s a great team mentality. We have guys playing for each other. They just want to win. This senior group is one with great leaders. Their focus is on winning. We’re on our way, we’re not there yet, and that group does a great job of keeping the focus. They are detail-oriented, show great leadership, treat each other like brothers and hold each other accountable. We’re working on timing our routes against the defense that we’ll see. (When they’re on offense) they run a little bit of a flex-bone triple option. So we’re talking about assignments and responsibilities on defense. Guys have done a great job with preparation.”

The Golden Hawks are 13-2 all-time against Central Lee and have won seven straight in the series dating back to 2015, including a 33-13 win last year in Donnellson. Mid-Prairie will honor 14 seniors tonight including Shay Myers, Brady Weber, Ace Peck, Landry Gingerich, Cobi Hershberger, Keegan Bauwens, Blake Swart, Traevin Gugel, Conner Wiles, Landon Kos, Dylan Humphrey, Burke Berry, Quinn Callahan and Tatem Telfer. You can hear all of the action live tonight on AM 1380, FM 102.5, the KCII 2 App and KCIIradio.com, beginning with the Golden Hawk football pregame show at 7p.m. and Yotty’s Incorporated Kickoff at 7:30 from Dwight G.
