The WACO Warriors picked up a conference volleyball victory Thursday night against Louisa-Muscatine. WACO won the first two sets 25-21 and 25-16, and while Louisa-Muscatine claimed the third frame 25-21 to extend the match, the Warrriors would finish them off by winning the fourth set 25-17.
Brenna Graber had team highs of 12 kills and 26 digs to lead WACO, while fellow sophomore Carlee Lunsford also had a double-double with 10 kills, 10 digs, six serving aces and one blocked shot.
Graber also had a pair of aces for the Warriors, as did setters Morgan Meyer and Kinsey Hildebrand. The junior Meyer handed out 23 assists to go with seven digs, while the sophomore Hildebrand also had seven digs and one kill to go with the 14 assists she distributed.
Senior Ella Huisenga and sophomore Drew Graber had six kills each, with Huisenga collecting 18 digs as well and Graber blocking a pair of shots. Senior Ally Rinner added three blocks and two kills to help WACO improve to 2-5 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North and 7-18 overall.
The Lone Tree Lions would not have the same good fortune Thursday, falling in straight sets at Wapello. Lone Tree lost 25-13 in the first set and could never recover, dropping the next two frames 25-4 and 25-16.
Junior Alyson Ford and seniors Cate Sexton, Avery Morarie and Madison Floyd had three kills each to pace the Lions, and Ford and Sexton each recorded four blocks.
Lone Tree drops to 8-16 with the loss, including a 2-5 record in the Super Conference North. The Lions finish up the regular season in their next match Tuesday against Winfield-Mount Union, while WACO will do the same against Pekin.
