The Sigourney Savages took care of business on the volleyball court Thursday night, cruising to a straight-sets win at BGM. Sigourney won the first set 25-19 and was able to keep BGM at arm’s reach all night, winning the next frames 25-21 and 25-15.

Reagan Clarahan had team highs of 12 kills and five blocked shots to lead the Savages, while fellow senior Josephine Moore put up nine kills, 16 digs and one block. Junior Addy Fineran and senior McKinley Chittick posted three kills each, with Fineran also collecting three blocks.

Sophomore Bailey Gretter dished out 12 assists to go with one kill, one serving ace and 11 digs, while fellow setter Taylor Rozenboom had two kills to go with her 19 assists, helping Sigourney improve to 14-4.

The Keota Eagles would not have the same luck Thursday, falling in straight sets to HLV. Keota lost the opening set 25-20, and while the Eagles hung tough, they would drop the next two frames as well, 25-16 and 25-22.

Coming off a sweep at the hands of Montezuma on Tuesday, Keota has now dropped to 3-12, including an 0-7 record in the East division of the South Iowa Cedar League. Both the Eagles and Sigourney next compete Monday in the first round of the SICL Tournament.
