The Washington Demons continue to excel in cross country this season. Washington won the boys’ team championship Saturday at the Bob Mudd Lynx Invitational in North Linn, finishing with a team score of 69 that was 12 points better than second-place Tipton, while the Demon girls finished third as a team.

Senior Tyler Alderton led the Washington boys with a time of 16 minutes 49 seconds and was fifth overall. Junior teammate Andrew Rees was also a medalist by finishing one spot and six seconds behind him.

Junior Sawyer Tschantz and freshman Parker Tschantz also had top-20 times for the Demons, while sophomore Ethan Hotchkiss finished 25th and freshman Teague Miller also cracked the top 50.

Junior Iris Dahl was tops for the Washington girls, taking the overall bronze medal by clocking in at 19-and-a-half minutes. Quincy Griffis and Kendall Hinrichsen joined her in the top 20, while junior Angeline Anderson and fellow seniors Lauren Horak, Alyvia Anderson and Isabella Lujan also had top-50 times.
