A pair of KCII area volleyball teams take the court tonight at Hillcrest Union in Kalona when the home Ravens host the Columbus Wildcats. Hillcrest comes into the match with a 17-7 overall record and 4-3 mark in the Southeast Iowa Superconference after a four set loss at Winfield-Mt. Union Thursday. This year, the Ravens have 1,003 digs, 670 kills, 550 assists, 203 aces and 75 blocks. Individually, they are led by Claire Withrow’s 534 assists, Malia Yoder with 287 digs and 282 kills with 50 aces, and Kylee Statler’s 32 blocks.
Columbus is 10-14 on the year and 5-2 in the Superconference after a five set home win over Highland Thursday. This season, the Wildcats have 970 digs, 423 kills, 385 assists, 138 aces and 29 blocks. Individual leaders include Daniela Diaz with 342 assists, 237 digs for Jocelyn Hernandez, 109 kills for Jessica Del Rio, Aracely Garza with 33 aces and 13 blocks for Hailey Wellington. Columbus has won six of the last seven meetings between these teams including both a year ago. Action starts tonight at 6:30p.m. at Hillcrest Academy.
