Six local school’s cross country teams ran on the big stage Tuesday at Cedarcrest in Columbus Junction for the annual Southeast Iowa Superconference championship meet.

The top area team finish belonged to the Hillcrest Academy Raven girls, who were team conference runners-up with their score of 98 points. Pekin won the championship with 76. Marie Yoder was the Raven leader, finishing as Superconference runner-up for the second straight season with a time of 20:01. Pekin’s Chloe Glosser was the individual champ in 19:14. Other Raven runners included Siena Stanerson fourth, Rya Scott 16th, Delaney Shaw 46th, and Brynna O’Rourke 53rd.

The Lone Tree girls were seventh of nine teams with 142 points led by a Addyson Eiben in 21st in 23:26. Other Lady Lions included Vivian Zaruba 37th, Jazmine Nino 39th, Ava Christofferson 41st, Carlee Sexton 44th, Abby Zaruba 54th and Evelyn Mueller 64th.

The Columbus girls were eighth with 146 points, led by Iris Garza in seventh at 21:10. Other Wildcat runners included Isabel Rendon 11th, Maritza Tovar 45th, Naveiah Garza 58th, and Frannie Sosa 59th.

WACO took ninth place with 178 points, led by Josie Dykstra’s sixth place performance in 21:00. Other Warriors included Elyssa Graber 20th, Sarah Craun 61st, Justine Lynn 62nd, and Deedra Graber 67th.

Highland did not have a team score. The Huskies Olivia Edwards finished 63rd in 31:15.

On the boys side of the event, the Columbus Wildcats were the area leaders on their home course, placing third of 12 schools with 92 points. Danville took the title with 71 points. Top ‘Cat was Ty Muniz fifth in 17:10. Jackson Shacklett of Danville was the individual conference champ in 16:49. Other Wildcat runners included Cade Storm 11th, Drake Marin 23rd, Elias Gonzalez Bravo 24th, Juan Alcala 29th, Ryan Villa 33rd, Alan Miranda 57th and Noah Razo 65th.

WACO was seventh in the team standings with 178 points led by the top area finish with Jude Dykstra placing third in 17:03. Other Warriors included Gavin Slagel 21st, Kerriran Luietjans 32nd, Tristan Luitjens 45th, and Kaden Donaldson 91st.

Hillcrest Academy was eighth with 219 points. Jesse Blossom paced the Ravens in 25th at 18:57. Other Raven runners included Micah Gerber 36th, Braden Hartsock 38th, Isaac Beachy 53rd, Jeremiah Danker 73rd, Mateo Rodriguez-Yoder 77th and Kyle Neuschwander 83rd.

Winfield-Mt. Union was 12th of 12 teams with 263 points. The Wolves Kohlby Newsom took seventh in 17:42. He was followed by Bowen Thomson 61st, Jacob Nelson 63rd, Brayden Cline 69th, Carter Finnell 76th, Konner Kinneberg 78th and Brayden Beebe 85th.

Neither the Lone Tree Lions or Highland Huskies had team scores. Performers for Lone Tree included Brock Nebergall  37th and Trenton McKean 79th. For the Huskies Jack Krotz was 74th, Chase Hickenbottom 82nd and Brayden Zywiec 88th.
