The Washington City Council met on Tuesday. On the agenda was the third and final reading of an ordinance amending the municipal code Chapters 50 and 51, which pertains to parking vehicles on property. After further discussion with council member Ila Earnest, who was unsure of the wording clarity in the ordinance. The Council approved the third reading of the ordinance in a 4 to 1 vote, with Earnest voting no. The new ordinance states that operable vehicles may be parked on a temporary basis not to exceed 24 consecutive hours in the front yard. Operable vehicles parked or stored for more than 24 hours must be parked on an all-weather surface and only in a rear yard or side yard.
