A scary-good season for Washington Demons football was full of great individual efforts that rank near the top of their district, powering Washington to a 6-3 record and a big turnaround from just two wins in 2023.

The defense was a big part of the Demons’ success, led by veterans like linebacker Jude Carter. The senior finished the regular season as the leading tackler in Class 3A District 4 with 84 total stops and is third in the state in 3A. Carter was also ninth in the district with 10 tackles for loss.

Defensive lineman Keider Gomez Valdez racked up 14-and-a-half tackles for loss in the regular season, the third-most in District 4 and tied for fifth-most in the state. Fellow senior Summit Keith takes the last spot in the district top 10 with nine-and-a-half stops behind the line of scrimmage.

Keith and sophomore Blaine Rees in the top 10 of the district in total tackles, with Keith in sixth with 58 and Rees seventh with 51.5, while sophomore Brady Krantz is tied for seventh in District 4 in sacks.

Pressure was a specialty for Washington this season, as they still sit tied for third in the state in total sacks as a team and third in Class 3A in combined tackles for loss.

Demon quarterback Logan McDole was a driving force for the offense, finishing the regular season second in 3A District 4 in completion percentage and third in passing yards, passing touchdowns and total TDs accounted for. The senior completed over 61 percent of his passes for 1,157 yards and 15 scores.

McDole is also in the top six in the district in both rushing attempts and rushing yards, while junior Kael Williams’ 112 carries for 528 yards are both fifth in District 4.

Wide receiver Jayfred Espinosa ends the regular season tied for fourth in catches with 26, while fellow senior Mason Morgan is third in receiving yards with 464 and tied with Espinosa and Williams for the fourth-most touchdown catches in the district with four each.
