Numbers don’t lie. The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team earned their first trip to the State Tournament in two decades this week, and their stats this season show they belong among the elite in Class 3A.
The Golden Hawk defense is the best in the land in 3A, posting 2,041 total digs. Mid-Prairie is fourth in 3A in team kills with 1,247 and team assists with 1,182. The Hawks 262 aces put them fifth in Class 3A.
Individually, senior Dakota Mitchell is third in Class 3A with 546 digs. Her 58 aces this year are seventh most in 3A. Senior Callie Huber is a sniper with a .434 kill efficiency rating, fourth highest in 3A. Junior Jovi Evans has racked up 346 kills this year, sixth most in 3A, to go with 54 aces, 10th most in the class.
The No. 8 Golden Hawks are making their first State Tournament appearance since 2004 on Tuesday when they travel to Xtream Arena to battle No. 1 Mount Vernon.
