October in Washington was warmer and dryer than normal. According to the National Weather Service, the average temperature last month was 55.1 degrees, just over three degrees above normal. The maximum average temperature was nearly seven degrees higher, with the recorded max average at 71.9 degrees, while the normal maximum average is 64.2 degrees. The warmest day last month was October 6th when the thermometer climbed to 89 degrees.
Precipitation was about one inch below the average of 3.03 inches, however 1.5 inches of the precipitation arrived on the final day of the month. So far this year, Washington has observed 31 inches of precipitation, three inches below the normal mark of 34 inches.
