The Kalona Farmers Market was chalked up as a success for their 2024 season. The market featured area artisans, live music, local gardeners with fresh produce, area bakeries, and ready-made food for patrons to enjoy. Kalona Chamber of Commerce Director Tonia Poole shares how they’d like to continue to be a welcoming event for the community, “We also want to continue to invite our fire department, the library, different local organizations to be present whether it’s a craft or an activity, something free for the kids to do during the market. We’ve done that for a couple of years and we want to see more of that in the future.”
The market had a full slate of vendors throughout the season which ran from May to mid-October, hosted two Saturdays a month. Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Poole says, “We would love to be maxed out every single week and if there was a need to grow and expand the market space, that would be fantastic.”
