Students will soon learn about Veterans Day alongside area service members. The Mid-Prairie High School is hosting their annual Veterans Day Assembly and Luncheon on Monday. Golden Hawk senior Charlotte Sieren shares how the event resonates with students, “I always hear from students that it’s very impactful to remember what people have done for our country, and the reason that we are free is because of what these people have done for us.”
The event is organized by the Mid-Prairie Family Career and Community Leaders of America Chapter and they invite any area veteran to join them on November 11th. Sieren says what she hopes veterans take away from the assembly, “We hope that they see that students remember that we’re incredibly fortunate to live in a free country, that we’re free because of the price that they paid serving our country.”
The assembly will include performances by the band and choir, a recognition of veterans in attendance and students who will be serving in the military, and a presentation by High School Principal Chuck Banks. Following the assembly, a lunch is held and students are encouraged to meet with the veterans in attendance.
