A Sigourney native has been named the new public address announcer for the University of Northern Iowa women’s basketball. UNI Athletics announced the hiring of Gina Rogers. She began her time behind the microphone for the Panthers with the women’s basketball team on October 29th.

Prior to this position, her impressive resume includes serving as the PA announcer for multiple teams at the University of Iowa, the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union’s state volleyball and basketball championships, and the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division II Volleyball National Championships, and the USA Volleyball’s junior national championships and USA Field Hockey’s Junior Olympics. She’s also spent time as a color commentator on television and radio.
