The Lone Tree Lions will have some changes in store when they take the basketball court for a new boys’ season next month.

Former Columbus Wildcats head coach Jonathan Chaney will be taking the reins of a program that won six games last winter, and Lone Tree will need to replace graduated all-conference guard Ethan Bockelman, who averaged over 10 points and five rebounds per game.

But the Lions will have much of last year’s roster returning, including leading scorer Emmett Burke, who put up 13 points, four assists and two-and-a-half steals a game as a sophomore.

Other experienced players like juniors Domonic Garcia and Reece Holbrook are back, and Chaney tells KCII Sports everyone on the team has approached their preparation for the new season with the right attitude.

“They really have a great work ethic when it comes down to getting down to business,” Chaney says. “We were having practices every day this summer at 7 a.m., and they’d show up and were ready to work without any questions. I’ve been really impressed with their willingness to learn and improve, and so far it’s been really awesome to see just the way they get after things.”

Lone Tree will take on Columbus in their opening game of the new boys’ basketball season December 3rd.
