Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball standout Dakota Mitchell will be on the court in a special event Saturday. Mitchell, a senior libero at Mid-Prairie, has been selected to the 2024 Iowa Girls Coaches Association, Senior All-Star Volleyball Classic. She is one of 33 total players chosen across the entire state, and all classes to participate on four teams.

Mitchell, a multi-time All-State player, and previous River Valley Conference Player of the Year, put up phenomenal numbers in her final season with the Hawks, with 558 digs, third most in Class 3A. Her 58 aces were seventh most in 3A. She will join a team at the All-Star Showcase that includes players from Indianola, Mount Vernon, Council Bluffs Lewis Central, Iowa City Liberty, Ankeny Christian, Dike New Hartford and West Delaware, coached by Austin Shepherd of Wapsie Valley.

First matches are scheduled for 4p.m. Saturday at Johnston Middle School.
