Iowa’s drought conditions held steady from last week to this week according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. At this time 93.84 percent of Iowa is abnormally dry with just over 63 percent in moderate drought and 12.6 percent in severe drought. The severe drought area is concentrated in northwest Iowa.
All of Washington County is currently rated as abnormally dry, as is all of Keokuk, Jefferson, Henry, and Louisa counties. The southern portions of Iowa and Johnson counties are abnormally dry with the northern sections in moderate drought.
