Washington Demon girls’ wrestling returns to competition tonight. After co-oping with Highland for a season last year, Washington will once again field its own girls’ team.

Among the Demons’ leaders will be senior Peggy Miller, who won 25 bouts at 145 pounds last season with Highland. The roster otherwise features many first-time varsity grapplers, but head coach Anne Vittetoe tells KCII Sports that her team has shown a lot of potential.

“[I am] very excited to have this program [be] a part of Washington this year,” Vittetoe says. “I love to see it. They’re all putting in the work. It’s going to be exciting.”

Washington will begin the new girls’ wrestling season tonight with a meet at Sigourney-Keota.
