The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls wrestling team got the year started Tuesday with a trip to the Lancer Invitational at North Scott High School in Eldridge. Three Golden Hawks got to the top of the podium in competition.
Austyn Sexton was a champion at 115lbs with a 2-0, pinning her way to the title including a championship match fall over Molly Steiner of Clinton in 90 seconds.
Ashlee Farrier was the winner at 130lbs, going 4-0 on the night including a title bout win by pin over Khloee Schmidt of Western Dubuque.
At 145lbs, Mardie Berry brought home gold with a 2-0 day that included a title match fall over Kyleigh Kloser of Western Dubuque.
Other top performances included runner-up nights for Delani Blum, Maya Banuelos, Emmerson Moore, Laken Lee, and Cassie Trimpe. Desinta Moyle, Ruby Miller, Brooklyn Lovetinsky, Madison Reinier, Kirstyn Bell, Adelyn Huston and Ellie Callahan were each third.
The Hawks are back on the mat Saturday for a tournament at Wilton.
