KCII News spoke with U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley about what issues Congress will be taking up during the January session, “First of all, I would have to say that if we don’t settle the appropriations for the rest of this fiscal year that’s up to September 30th of next year. We’re going to have to do that next year, and I hope that doesn’t happen. I hope between now and Christmas we fund the Federal Government to September 30th 2025. Then beyond that a five year farm bill. Extending the 2017 tax bill that expires or sunsets next December 31st. Because if we don’t extend it, you and everybody else including Chuck Grassley is going to get a tax increase. The largest in the history of our country, and we can’t let that happen.” Also on the list of issues was installing new cabinet members, prescription drug pricing, and passing a defense authorization bill. January 3rd is the start of the new legislative session.
