Welcome To Riverside

A full inventory of all of the sidewalks and public facilities in the City of Riverside was recently conducted. The work was done to track what areas are compliant and what needs to be addressed for accessibility.

City Administrator Cole Smith says conversations are being held about how best to address sidewalks, “Sidewalks are an integral piece of our city infrastructure, although they are the responsibility of the property owner to maintain. We also understand they are very expensive, you know to get sidewalk replaced that can be a few thousand dollars and that’s frankly just not realistic or feasible for a lot of people. So we are looking at ways to help partner with the community to making sure that not only are things financially affordable for all but also accessible for all.”

Smith said they are in the design process of the sidewalk replacement program to be implemented in the future. He added that the city is looking to put the public areas that need to be addressed into the Riverside Capital Improvement Plan and then into the city’s annual budget.
