The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk and Sigourney Savage boys basketball teams each got a dress rehearsal for the upcoming season against live competition Monday at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman.
The Savages were the first of the two area teams to take the court, facing off with Central Lee. Sigourney fell by a 32-20 final. The Savages held a 14-13 lead after the first quarter, but a Hawk’s run of 18-7 pushed them ahead in the second period and on to the win. Solon Yates scored eight for the Savages, Isaac Bruns had five and John Berg pulled in five boards. Sigourney starts their season at Keota Tuesday.
The home Golden Hawks ripped the Rockets of EBF 39-11. The Hawks had a 20-8 lead after one and put together a 19-3 sprint that spanned the entire second quarter. Brady Weber was the leader with 11 points, Ace Peck added nine and Bryce Henry seven. Mid-Prairie starts their season at Benton Tuesday.
