A fatal wreck occurred in Washington County on Saturday afternoon. On November 30th at approximately 4 p.m., the Iowa State Patrol responded to a report of a Toyota Camry that had been traveling eastbound on Highway 78 just west of Toadflax Boulevard, southeast of Brighton. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the driver failed to negotiate a curve and the vehicle left the roadway, rolling several times. 

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining fatal injuries. The passenger was wearing a seatbelt and was transported by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital for suspected not life-threatening injuries. The names of the driver and occupant are being withheld pending an investigation. 

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Washington County EMS, the Washington County Sheriff’s office, and Jones Eden Funeral Home.
