Local girls’ wrestlers took part in the Fort Madison Invitational Monday. That included Washington’s Peggy Miller winning the tournament championship at 145 pounds.

The senior won her first two bouts by pin before defeating Burlington’s Mia Oddo by a 9-0 major decision in the final to raise her record to 10-2. Nora Stoutner finished third for the Demons at 125, while fellow sophomore Ryha Wellington was sixth at 140.

Sigourney-Keota senior Reanah Utterback continued an undefeated start to her season by winning the title at 115 lbs. The defending state champion pinned all three opponents she wrestled. Freshman Izzy McCullough was fourth at 100 lbs for SK, as were sophomores Sadie Clarahan and Kia Montgomery at 125 and 130, respectively.

Senior Josie Nelson led Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union by finishing second at 140 lbs, while sophomore Jada Moats was sixth at 170 for the Wildcats, as was junior Brynn Pogmore at 235. Sophomore Chloe Sexton had the best finish for the Highland Huskies by taking fourth at 190.
