The Iowa State Patrol has released the names of individuals involved in a fatal car crash Monday morning in wintry conditions in Washington County. According to the report, just before 9a.m., a southbound Buick driven by 70-year old John McAndrew of Fairfield tried to pass an Iowa DOT snow plow on Highway 1, five miles south of Kalona. The Buick collided head-on with a Nissan driven by 54-year-old John Person of Fairfield in the northbound lane. The drivers of both vehicles were killed, as was a passenger in the Nissan, 41-year-old Amanda Person of Fairfield. A third person in the Nissan, seventeen year-old Victor Person of Fairfield was injured and transported to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County EMS, and the Jones Eden Funeral Home.
