Carriage rides, caroling, a house decorating contest, a soup supper, and more are happening this Saturday at Christmas in Keota. City Administrator and Clerk for the City of Keota Alycia Horras shares she enjoys the traditions, “There’s just so many things that really just help get us into the Christmas spirit and that’s what this is to get people into the spirit, get them really just kind of ready to go. I think sometimes the holidays get thrown together so quickly and we’re such a fast paced community, and really people, we’re go-go-go all the time. So to be able to kind of stop and step back, and take a moment, and enjoy some of the traditions is an amazing thing to do.”
A craft and vendor fair is being held at Holy Trinity Parish Hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A Christmas Celebration will be at the Wilson Memorial Library at 9 a.m. A free will donation soup supper will be provided at Schmitty’s from 4 to 7 p.m. with all proceeds going to the Keota Food Pantry. The Keota Historical Museum will be open from 4-7 p.m. The traditional carriage rides will be at City Hall with kids activities inside while you wait. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on-site for the tree lighting and caroling at 6 p.m.
