Three local girls wrestling teams got together Tuesday at the Demon Den in Washington for the first-of-it’s-kind Washington County Wrestling event. Athletes from Washington, Mid-Prairie and WACO schools hit the mat to compete
The Washington Demons went 8-2 in total on the day. Ryha Wellington and Peggy Miller were both a perfect 2-0 with Wellington scoring a fall and an 8-4 decision victory, while Miller earned a pair of pins. Allison Reed and Nora Stoutner each finished the night 2-1 with a pair of wins by pin.
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks went 10-11 at Washington as a team. Gabby Gingerich, Layken Lee and Delani Blum were all unbeaten with Gingerich getting a pair of pins, Blum a fall and Lee an 8-4 win. Austyn Sexton and Maya Banuelos both finished the night 2-1 with two falls each. Destina Moyle and Brooklyn Lovetinsky split their two matches, each earning a pin.
The WACO girls posted a 7-10 team record on the night. Elyssa Graber and Rylee Rice were both unbeaten in two matches, pinning their way through the night. Cayten Coakley won two of three by fall and Athena Flores split her two matches with the win coming by pin.
