The Highland Huskies won a 47-32 dual with the Lone Tree Lions Tuesday night as part of a boys’ wrestling quintangular at Louisa-Muscatine. Highland would be close to a few other wins, but they would lose 42-34 to the hosting Falcons and 42-39 to Muscatine while also suffering a 63-18 defeat to West Liberty.
A pair of sophomores led the way for the Huskies, as Tyler Pierson won three times by fall at 138 pounds and Jose Ramirez did the same at 190. Jack Cave picked up a pair of pins for Highland at 106 lbs, as did fellow freshman Caleb Wheeler at 150 and junior Brock Thomann at 126.
Freshman Cash Cole won by pin and by technical knockout at 120 lbs for the Huskies, while junior Alan Nass had a pin at 138. A pair of freshmen added victories by decision, as Aiden Yoder won 6-3 at 120 and Mason Lavely claimed a 17-5 major decision at 132.
In addition to the Highland defeat, Lone Tree fell 52-30 to Louisa-Muscatine; lost 77-6 to West Liberty; and was beaten 72-12 by Muscatine. Senior Clemens Swaink won twice by fall at 144 lbs to lead the Lions.
