A former star runner for the Washington Demons helped Wartburg College to a national runner-up finish this cross country season. Lance Sobaski ran a top-40 time at the NCAA Division III Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana last month to help the Wartburg Knights take second place as a team.

Sobaski earned All-American honors for his efforts for the first time in his college career after previously picking up all-conference and all-region selections for the third time in as many seasons at Wartburg. He also helped the Knights tie for the best team finish in program history and earn a top-five national team finish for a third straight year.

Sobaski has previously been a two-time All-American in track and field at Wartburg. Prior to his time in Waverly, Sobaski reached the state championships in cross country three times for Washington, including an eighth-place finish his senior season with the Demons.
