Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur are a Pokemon Trainer’s choices for a starter and this Saturday area kids can take part in a Pokemon Trading Card Day. The Kalona Public Library is hosting the event. Library Director Olivia Kahler shares that the Pokemon Trading Card days have a wide net when it comes to attendance, “Kids from all over – Wellman, Kalona, Richmond, sometimes Washington, kids show up and they bring their binders full of cards. And January especially is great because they’ve just gotten new cards for Christmas. So they bring all of their Pokemon cards and their binders, and they meet here and they swap cards. They do get one free card just for showing up and then that’s a really good card to start the trade with instead of immediately giving away something that is theirs.”
The event typically has elementary-aged children and some middle school attendees. It will begin at 10 a.m. this Saturday, January 4th.
