snow-sidewalk

City of Washington residents are reminded that having vehicles off the street during snow storms makes it easier for city crews to plow and helps drainage when melting occurs. When the City removes snow in the downtown area, the permanent signs read No Parking from 10 p.m.-6 a.m. for snow removal. City personnel place four signs on each corner of Central Park on the days the City will be cleaning. The City also wants to remind residents that they are responsible for keeping their sidewalks free from snow and ice. Residents must remove snow within 24 hours after the snow has ceased or ice formed. If the property owners or occupants fail to remove the ice and snow, the City may do so, and the cost of the removal will be levied against the property per City ordinance.
