The Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) gave their report and funding request to the Washington County Board of Supervisors at their most recent meeting. Kim Guardado with HACAP shared some of the struggles that HACAP has faced the past year, and the reason for maintaining the funding request as the previous year “We certainly could ask for more, because our expenses went up, but we don’t want to be greedy, we know that you have limited funds and you have many people asking for that money from the money that you have available so, $120,000 is what we need. We could always use more, there’s no doubt about it because the demand for food has grown probably double from what it was ten years ago, probably more than doubled.” The funding request that was presented to the Supervisors was for $120,000 and goes towards food, housing, heating, and other community support costs. The request will be decided on by the Supervisors at a later budget meeting.
