The Washington Demon boys’ wrestling team picked up a split of team duals last night at Fort Madison. While Washington defeated Mediapolis 60-17, the Demons were even at 42 with their Southeast Conference rivals on the scoreboard and lost the tiebreaker to the Bloodhounds on forfeited bouts.
Washington was led by Aaron Boone, who continued his undefeated season by winning twice by fall at 132 pounds. Fellow senior Nate Edmonds also won twice by pin at 113 lbs, as did sophomore Blaine Rees at 165 and senior Bryer Billingsly at 157.
The Demons also got pins to win from sophomore Joseph Schreiber at 106, sophomore Greyson Hartman at 215 and juniors Brayden Vermillion and Sam Mason-Goff, each at 190.
The Washington girls also competed at Fort Madison but did not have any individual winners in a 30-0 dual loss. While they will travel to North Mahaska this weekend, the Demon boys will next compete tomorrow at the Jerry Eckenrod Invitational in Benton.
