Drought conditions in Iowa held study from last week to this week, but show substantial improvements over this time last year. According to the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, at this time 20.4 percent of Iowa is without drought conditions while on January 9, 2024, under three percent of Iowa was in that category.

Currently, 1.3 percent of the Hawkeye State is in severe drought, 57.13 percent is in moderate drought, and just under 80 percent is abnormally dry. Most of Washington County is abnormally dry. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
