More than $5 million is being awarded to Homelessness Initiatives for 2025. The funds were announced by the Iowa Finance Authority and the goal is to help many in need especially during the cold season. Forty-eight agencies across the state are receiving funds.

In a released statement Iowa Finance Authority Director Debi Durham shared, “The homelessness assistance awards announced today will have a direct impact in helping thousands of Iowans in their time of need. “Iowa’s homeless service professionals work tirelessly to help get Iowans back on their feet and into permanent housing, and this funding will aid in those efforts.”  Four agencies with services in Washington County are receiving funds.

The Domestic Violence Intervention Program will receive $142,719. 

The Hawkeye Area Community Action Program will be awarded $90,170. 

Shelter House Community Shelter and Transition Services will receive $196,288. 

The University of Iowa will all be awarded $252,337.
