It’s a rare Saturday edition of the KCII Area Game of the Week today, featuring a pair of local teams when the Hillcrest Academy Ravens entertain the Keota Eagles. The Raven boys are 10-1 overall this year, 8-1 in the Superconference after an 83-24 win over Highland Friday. This year, the Ravens average 66 points per game and give up 42, shooting a 1A leading 52% from the floor, 32% from three and 59% at the line with 26 rebounds, 18 assists, 12 steals and 12 turnovers per night. Seth Ours leads the Ravens with 15 points per night, Mason Bender has seven rebounds, and Rowan Miller six assists and three steals.
The Keota boys are 9-1 overall, 7-1 in conference after an 81-48 win at Colfax-Mingo Friday. The Eagles score 69 points per game and give up 51, shooting 43% from the floor, 33% from deep and 60% at the line with 41 rebounds, 16 assists, nine steals and 13 turnovers per game. Individually, Billie Kindred leads with 24 points and a best in 1A 17 rebounds per night with two steals. Chase Haifley averages a 1A best eight assists per game. Keota has won this matchup the last two years including 71-35 last season.
The Raven girls are 5-6 overall and 3-6 in conference after a 56-50 loss to Highland in Kalona Friday. This year the Ravens score 49 points per game and give up 48, shooting 32% from the floor, 25% from three and 47% at the line with 35 rebounds, 16 steals, 11 assists and 24 turnovers per game. Individually, Claire Withrow leads with 18 points per night, Delaney Shaw has 10 rebounds and Malia Yoder five steals and four assists.
The Keota girls are 3-8 overall and 2-6 in conference after a 43-41 win at Colfax-Mingo Friday. This year, the Eagles score 43 per night and give up 50, shooting 29% from the floor, 26% from three and 48% at the line with 28 rebounds, 13 steals, 10 assists and 24 turnovers per game. Individual leaders are Emily Conger at 10 points, Kennedy Jackson with four rebounds, Cameron Haifley with three steals and Kimberly Clarahan with two assists. Keota has won this game the last two seasons including 48-41 last year.
