Aaron Boone’s undefeated season just barely came to an end for Washington Demon wrestling this weekend. After winning twice by technical knockout to reach the semifinals at the Jerry Eckenrod Invitational in Benton, Boone won a 10-3 decision Saturday to advance to the championship bout at 132 pounds.

Unfortunately, the senior’s 27-0 record would finally suffer a blemish when Jace Hedeman of LaPorte City Union claimed a 7-2 decision in the finals. Blaine Rees was eighth at 165 lbs for the Demons, as was fellow sophomore Joseph Schreiber at 106 and senior Nate Edmonds at 113.

The Washington girls’ wrestling team spent the weekend at the North Mahaska Invitational, where senior Peggy Miller led the way by finishing second place at 145 lbs and only losing one bout. Ryha Wellington took third for the Demons at 135, while fellow sophomore Norah Stoutner was fourth at 125.
