There is a chance for 9th-12th grade 4-H’ers in Washington County to take their 4-H experience to the next level, with the State Recognition Opportunities. There are many opportunities available for recognition awards or to represent Iowa in upcoming leadership conferences on the state and national levels. These provide young people with the ability to practice and grow leadership, communications, and college and career readiness skills through application and interview activities. Opportunities include, the National 4-H Conference (9th-11th grade); National 4-H Congress (grades 9-11); State 4-H Council (grades 10-11); State 4-H Project Awards (grades 9-12); Iowa 4-H Reporter Program (grades 9-12), and Shooting Sports Ambassador (grades 9-11).  The selection process for the opportunities will involve an online application process through 4hOnline, a one-page resume, and an on campus or virtual interview in March. Application and support material must be submitted online by February 1st. Awards are announced mid-April. If 4-Hers would like more information, help with the application process or have any questions, they should contact Amy Green, at the Washington County Extension Office.
