The end of this past week was good to the Keota Eagle basketball teams, who both won a pair of games. It started with a sweep of a doubleheader Thursday against Moulton-Udell and was followed up by winning both games Saturday at Moravia.

The Keota girls raced out to a 19-2 lead by the end of the first quarter Thursday and never looked back on their way to a 55-13 victory. Two days later, the Eagles came back from a one-point deficit in the opening period to take a 20-15 lead into halftime against Moravia, holding on from there to win 46-38 and improve to 7-9 on the season.

The Keota boys’ team more than doubled a 19-8 lead after a quarter of play against Moulton-Udell into a 39-15 advantage at the half. The Eagles would then basically duplicate that effort in the second half and get a convincing 78-27 victory.

Senior Billie Kindred had a big game Thursday with 25 points, nine rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots to lead Keota, while senior Jace Chalupa and junior Jackson Vittetoe scored 10 points each for the Eagles and combined for nine assists.

Keota again jumped out to a big lead on Saturday, going up 28-17 after one quarter and pushing their lead over Moravia to 47-24 at the break on their way to winning 80-56.

A fourth straight win helps the Eagles raise their record to 13-2. Both Keota teams next play tomorrow night at Sigourney.
