Connection was the theme of the Washington Economic Development Group annual presentation to the Washington County Board of Supervisors. WEDG Executive Director Mary Audia shared on the successful year of networking that the group had, “Some of the fun things that we get to do is connect our legislators, both federal and state, to projects that are going on in Washington County. So Lt. Governor Adam Gregg came to visit Brava Roof Tile, and he also visited the Y project bringing a lot of interest in Washington County. Also even with PAWS & More, we have connected them with a bunch of legislative staff, to get them more resources to help them with their expansion project that is going to be going on in the southwest business park. We were able to write a letter of support for Riverside, they are going to do a community development block grant, so really fix up downtown Riverside to draw more tourism to our area.” The rest of Audia’s report highlighted business retention and expansion, housing, childcare, and community support for the county. They placed a funding request of $23,000 to the Board of Supervisors for the continued contribution to the County, which is the same amount requested as the previous year.
